Is it harmful to hamsters to store food in the mouth?

There is no apparent disadvantage in hamsters of storing food in the mouth, but sometimes it affects their body. The animals store more food in their mouths than normal.

They learn this from their parents and find this an engaging activity, it can even cause vomiting.

They cannot keep the mixed food in their mouths, and that is why they put it out. The process can be frustrating for them sometimes, and they keep on doing this.
